About

My name is Mary Bray I live on the East Coast of the UK. By profession I was a registered nurse and became a teacher of nurses. Always a reader I hankered to write a book of my own. During research for a book I discovered the beauty of poetry and it hooked me. I have been writing and studying poetry for 7 years now and am wowed by how much poetry is teaching me about the use of language, it’s sounds and rhythm. I am awed by the amount of storytelling and emotions that can be encapsulated in a tiny three line poem and the whole concept of the Art of Poetry fascinated me. I have published 2 poetry books on Amazon and I have been teaching poetry for the past few years. To help my students I also wrote a book about the Art of Poetry called Making Words Sing. At the moment I am working on a project relating to nursing and poetry exploring roles and behaviours from 1850 through to the time of COVID. I am researching the periods before I was a nursing student and using my own experience and memory to inform some of the rest.
